Karen was introduced to Pilates in her mid twenties - she had been suffering with back problems due to her sedentary job and she found that Pilates reduced her pain significantly.  In 2004, Karen had an accident which led to lumbar spine surgery.  Pilates was a huge part of Karen's rehabilitation program. It helped her return to a healthy posture and was of great benefit in controlling her pain levels. This made her reassess her career in Marketing and she found the Pilates Foundation.

Karen trained as a Matwork teacher at the Scott Studio in Castle Cary under Suzanne Scott.  As soon as the training was complete, Karen was so inspired that she continued her studies for an additional two years to include the Full Studio Apparatus.  During this time, Karen also trained to teach Pre and Post Natal classes.  As well as teaching Matwork and Equipment Classes, Karen loves working individually with clients that have suffered pain through illness or injury, focusing on musculo-skeletal rehabilitation as well as helping to conquer the fear of movement that pain installs.

Karen is now embarking on a Nutrition course to further her understanding how the body is affected by pain as well as any prescribed medication.
